When we expand our horizons, anything is possible

Your greatness is measured by your horizons.
— Michelangelo

Recently, I spent time at a conference in Belfast with an incredible group of people from all over the world. From the moment I arrived I felt connected with the people there; the venue was palpably brimming with love, optimism and positive energy, and I felt completely at home and at ease from the very beginning.

I know that I’ve been genuinely fortunate in my career because my path led me to this wonderful group of people, who I continue to learn so much from. I’m also grateful for the fact that I am now able to contribute - in my own way - to the world that we're all creating together, as part of a group which is genuinely transforming humanity, serving others and creating positive change in the world. It’s been - and continues to be - an incredible experience for me, not least because I’m learning so much and expanding as I do, but also because it’s something that has always been important to me. I’ve always priorotised being of service to others, and throughout my career I’ve achieved this by helping individuals and organisations to unlock their potential and realise what they're really, truly capable of.

There are no limits to what you can accomplish, except the limits you place on your own thinking.
— Brian Tracy

Personally, I found being surrounded by so many other people - who are involved in the same line of work, at scale - to be an incredibly inspiring, eye-opening experience. I feel as though it has opened up broader horizons for me, filled with new, ambitious possibilities which are greater than anything I could have previously imagined. I now have a stronger belief in my own potential, and I know that there are no limits to what I can accomplish! Suffice to say I learned a great deal from the experience, and it’s almost certainly going to be a theme that I’ll return to in future blogs.

The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration.
— Claude Monet

But it’s important to recognise that attending conferences and mixing with inspiring, like-minded people isn’t the only way to expand our horizons. In fact, it’s often enough to simply open our minds to new perspectives, and start to look at things in a different way. For me, this often involves spending time in nature (a brisk walk along the beach is my go-to for recharging my batteries), because it helps remind me that we’re all part of a much bigger picture.

Why not take a few moments to think about what you could do to expand your own horizons. From having a conversation with someone you haven’t connected with recently, to reading a book on a new subject, or journaling. Find whatever works for you because sometimes, the smallest changes can create a shift which helps us to expand our horizons and opens up new possibilities in our lives. I know, because it has happened to me!
